Who can attend the workshop?
The workshops are for Lansing area young people ages 13-25. Space is limited. You must apply and be selected to participate.
Do you need experience in film or video?
No experience is necessary but we do want to know what your experiences, inspirations and goals are.
What if I can't make it to all of the workshops?
To qualify for a workshop you must make the majority of the classes during the workshop for the program to be a success. The exact number of missed days allowed will be in the application form.
What if I like filmmaking but don't want to work with other people?
The free workshops require teamwork, a great attitude and good attendance. Some projects are done as a group and other projects can be done independently. If you want private classes or tutoring email us for a price list.
If I attend home school or am not in school can I participate?
Anyone can apply. You do not need to be a high school graduate or US citizen to participate. We will select students based on personal merit and the effort they put into their application form.
Who owns the video projects and Podcasts that we create?
YVVP owns the rights to all video projects, podcasts, and photographs created in the program but students can also use them for their portfolios and competitions. By entering the program you grant us the right to use photos, videos and sound recordings of the project for promotional purposes.
Can we hire you for a workshop for adults or at our school or Community center?
We strive to provide free after school workshops for young artists but also provide other Filmmaking, Digital Storytelling and Podcasting workshops. Advanced students can also work with a YVVP mentor to provide media services. Email us for descriptions and a price list.
